This is not required but is a resource for you to purchase an instrument for next year.

Next Tuesday May 14 we will be having our Spring Concert at TCHS.  Students must be in their designated locations by 7:00 so that we can start the concert at 7:30.  Students will be wearing tux shirts, black pants, and black shoes/socks.

This is our final required performance for the school year!

Your children did great at our contest today!  We received a superior rating, great job!  Our spring concert is May 14 at Timber Creek HS.  This is our final performance as sixth grade band students, and is our last required performance for the school year.  The students will need to make sure to bring their instruments to the concert!  We will be wearing our “professional dress” just like the winter concert.

5:45 – Students leave cases in the band hall and head to the stage
6:00 – Students should be in seat on stage with instrument ready to play
6:30 – Concert begins!

Our annual band banquet is on May 31 from 6:30 – 9:30.  Students should dress formal for this event.  Dinner will be served by Fresco’s at 6:30. We will extend the deadline for forms and money to Monday May 13 before the end of the day.  Students should have brought a form home from school today, but just in case they did not we have attached one to this email.

This contest is going to occur during the school day. We will be eating lunch on the road and it will be late! Please send students with $6.00 cash so that they can pay for lunch. Students should report to school like normal with their tux outfits. We will pull them out of class to change and depart for this contest. You are welcome to come and listen to our performance. Here is the Schedule for May 7th Murchison Contest:

11:25 – Symphonic band warmup at Murchison
11:50 – Symphonic band perform at Murchison
12:15 – Honors band warmup at Murchison
12:40 – Honors band perform at Murchison
1:15 – Eat at Cici’s pizza (need $6.00 cash)
We will be back to TSMS in time to go home like a normal day!

Our band contest is May 8 and the MANDATORY rehearsal for this contest is May 6th 3:00 – 4:30 in the TMIS Cafeteria. Students who do not attend the rehearsal are not allowed to attend our band contest.  If your child has missed any performance this year they will not be going with us on the trip per our handbook.

The contest will take all school day and lunch will be provided. Students can bring extra money for video games but bowling and lazertag are already paid for. Students must wear a TMIS band t-shirt and school appropriate pants, or shorts to go to this event.  Our schedule will be as follows:

May 8th -

7:15 – Students arrive at TMIS in band shirt, report to band hall to get instrument, and go to designated waiting area.

7:45 – Students should be in designated waiting area ready to leave

8:00 – Depart for Alley Cats in Arlington

9:20 – Warmup at Alley Cats

9:40 – Perform at Alley Cats

10:00 – 1:15 – Eat Pizza, Bowl, Play Games

1:15 – Check in with directors and load buses

1:30 – Depart for TMIS

2:30ish – Return to TMIS for dismissal

We will be performing the same music at our contest and our spring concert May 14 at TCHS so we look forward to playing for you!

We will be participating in the Beach Within Reach band contest next week!  We will be performing at Haltom HS during the school day.  Please look at the directions below for the band your child is in.  Your child will not be participating in every performance, so please make sure you are looking the correct band!  The only exception is Honors percussion.  You will be attending both the Thursday May 2 and Friday May 3 performances.

Concert band Thursday May 2:

Students will need to arrive early to school for this event.  They need to be in their concert tuxes and ready to go upon arrival.  They will need a change of clothes for the rest of the school day. Parents are welcome to follow us in their cars and watch the performance.

7:15 a.m. – Student arrive at TSMS in tuxes for early departure

7:45 a.m. – Depart for Haltom HS

8:25 a.m. – Concert band warms up at Haltom HS

8:50 a.m. – Concert band performs at Haltom HS

9:40 a.m. – Concert band back at TSMS change clothes and then back to class.

Symphonic band Thursday May 2:

Students will need to arrive early to school for this event.  They need to be in their concert tuxes and ready to go upon arrival.  They will need a change of clothes for the rest of the school day. Parents are welcome to follow us in their cars and watch the performance. (Honors Percussion will be going on Thursday and Friday!)

Not all students are participating in this event.  Students in Honors band must perform; symphonic, and concert band could have signed up if they choose to.  Please check with your child to see if they are performing.

The solo and ensemble contest is Saturday April 20 at Trinity Springs MS.  Student’s times will be posted in the band hall.  Students will need to be at TSMS 30 minutes prior to their performance time in order to warm up and be prepared.  Students must wear “professional dress” to this contest.

The cost of this contest is $7.00 and checks need to be made out to TSMS.

If your child is performing with the pianist the $30 payment is due at this second rehearsal.  Students using the pianist will be rehearsing with her the week of April 9.

Thursday March 21 is our annual Fine Arts Festival.  Students need to wear professional dress to this performance. The schedule for the evening is as fallows:

5:00 – Woodwinds arrive at TMIS and head to large gym with instrument and music (no cases)

5:15 – Woodwinds perform

5:45 – Brass and Percussion arrive at TMIS and head to large gym with instrument and music (no cases)

6:00 – Brass and Percussion perform

6:20 – TMIS choir performs and any students involved will need to go to the performance ASAP!

The fine arts festival offers many great concert opportunities.  Please stay and check out all of the great events.  At 7:30 the Honors Band from TSMS will perform and close out the festival.

We have had some emails asking about ordering the winter concert CD.  If you did not get a chance to do so on the winter concert then now is your chance!  Attached is the order form for the CD’s.  Please fill them out and send them back to us by Thursday December 13 if you would like to receive your CD before winter break.  If you don’t mind getting the CD after the break then you can send it in later.
