TMIS End of Year 2012-2013
Hello 6th grade Band Families,
The 2012-2013 year is coming to a close and your children will soon be middle school students!
To close the year out we have a few procedures that need to occur. Please go to the correct paragraph below if you child is either doing band next year at TSMS or not.
Students PARTICIPATING in band at TSMS please read here:
We are currently doing our auditions for band next year. Please note that this is not an audition to be in band. Students that are currently enrolled in band at TMIS are in band at TSMS. This audition is only to place them in the correct level of band. Results will be posted on the last day of school.
The different band classes are based on students playing ability and we work very hard to place students in the correct class so that they can be successful. We have explained this to the students at length so please speak with your child if you have any questions and then call or email if you have any more about this process.
After auditions are completed school owned instruments (tuba, euphonium, bassoon, oboe, French horn) will be checked back in to the school. We will inventory them and send any instruments that need to be repaired in to the shop. During the last week of school we will be checking instruments out to these students for the summer and next year. At that time we ask that you pay the $100 usage fee and sign the instrument check out form. This will cover the instrument all summer and next year.
Students that have personal instruments will need to hold on to them for the summer in order to practice for next year. We will be handing out music for next year so that students can practice over the summer.
Students will also need to purchase the “Foundations for Superior Performance” book for their instrument. You can purchase online or at any local music store. Percussion students will have additional sticks and mallets to purchase and Mr. Trewitt will be discussing this with you at a later time.
Students NOT PARTICIPATING in band at TSMS please read here:
Students with school owned instruments (tuba, euphonium, bassoon, oboe, French horn) will be checking those in. Students with store rental instruments we ask that you keep these instruments so the students can practice until school is over. At that point you can either take the instrument back to the store or keep it.
We would also like to remind everyone that if you do not sign up for band in 7th grade students are not able to get in band at a later date.
Thank you

TMIS Morning Practice
Hello TMIS Band Families,
The TMIS band students are doing a great job and we are excited for you to get to hear them at the winter concert! We do need to revamp our before school practice/help time. Starting this week we will be using a new system for morning practice. Students will only be allowed to come in for practice/help if they are given a pass by one of the directors. This will allow us to better serve students needs. If your child brings home a pass please make sure they come in for help. We want to offer every opportunity to your children for success!

TMIS Band Shirts
Hello TMIS Band Families,
The Band Shirts are in! The cost is $10.00, checks must be made out to TMIS. Students will need these shirts for our spring contest. The shirts will be for sale in the band hall each morning before school this week. It would be great if everyone had them for our first after school band rehearsal December 3rd (3:00 – 4:30).
Thank you
